Deputy prime minister for economic affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has said full attention should be paid to security of mines’ contractors, calling mines the national assets and fundamental source of national revenue.
Mullah Baradar, accompanied by acting Mines and Petroleum Minister Shahabuddin Dilwar, met with officials of Balkh, Jawzjan, Sari Pul and Samangan provinces during a visit to Balkh province.
Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on his Twitter handle that Mullah Baradar issued necessary instructions to the authorities about transparency in extracting minerals, their transfer and implementation of contracts, especially expediting the process of and transparency and technical extraction of coal.
Mullah Baradar said mines were fundamental and basic source of the country’s wealth and national revenue and full efforts should be made to protect the national wealth and ensure transparency.
He asked security officials to pay full attention to the security of domestic and foreign contractors in the respective provinces and allow no one to disrupt efforts for the country’s development.
