The European Union (EU) has promised long-term support to the Afghans in various sectors.
The assurance was held out by the EU chargé d’affaires at a meeting with Economy Minister Qari Din Mohammad Hanif here.
A statement from the Economy Ministry quoted Raffaella Iodice as saying the EU was trying to stay with the Afghan government and people in the long term.
Welcoming humanitarian aid from the EU and the world at large, the minister called for shifting focus to infrastructure development.
Hanif suggested the construction of power dams, standardization of the agricultural system and creation of cold storage facilities.
Pressure tactics had never yielded the desired results, but fueled tensions, he argued, urging the world to interact well with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and cooperate with efforts for its development.
