Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, while speaking at a press conference said: The Islamic Emirate considers mines to be the wealth of the nation and pays serious attention to its protection and the well-being of the nation.
He added: Short-term and long-term plans are being made and implemented for the growth of this sector.
Officials of the ministry said, that 493 mining areas have been surveyed in 25 provinces aimed at identifying new mines across the country.
According to the ministry, oil extraction is currently underway in Qashqari and Angut areas, 5 wells are active in Qashqari and 4 in Angut, furthermore, the work of extending the 94.5 km pipeline from Sheberghan to Mazar-i-Sharif has also started.
The ministry added that preparing the legal framework of the mining sector, surveying new mines, attracting domestic and foreign investments, awarding contracts and maintaining transparency are among the important plans for this year.
