The Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), Maulvi Asadullah “Bilal Karimi,” was received by the People’s Republic of China in a significant development, says Abdul Qahar Balkhi the spokesman of the IEA.
Arriving in Beijing on November 24, 2023, alongside the Afghan Embassy’s head, diplomats, and staff, he was warmly welcomed by Yue Shaoyong, the Special Representative of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the accompanying delegation.
On December 1, 2023, Ambassador Bilal Karimi presented a copy of his credentials to Hong Li, the Chief of Ceremonies at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Mr. Hong Le expressed a warm welcome to the Ambassador, considering it an important step towards advancing the relationship between China and Afghanistan. He emphasized China’s respect for Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and the decisions made by its people, affirming that China has never interfered in Afghanistan’s internal affairs in the past.
Mr. Hong Li conveyed China’s desire to assist Afghanistan in economic and infrastructure projects under the framework of the One Road and One Belt initiative.
Ambassador Bilal Karimi expressed his happiness in assuming his role as the official Ambassador and Extraordinary Representative of the IEA in China. He highlighted the significance of elevating relations between the two countries to a higher level, expressing his desire to strengthen and expand them further. Karimi assured the Chinese side that Afghanistan poses no threat to anyone, emphasizing the importance of regional stability and security for all parties involved.
The Ambassador praised China’s positive and non-interventionist policy toward Afghanistan, referring to China as a good neighbor. He acknowledged China’s important role in capital investment, infrastructure revitalization, development projects, and reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan.
Karimi emphasized that the current stability in Afghanistan presents a valuable opportunity that should be maximized.
Mr. Hong Le expressed hope that the arrival of the official Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate would strengthen and expand the positive relations between China and Afghanistan.
