The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Alhaji Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiar Saidov, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Asmatullah Ergashev, and the delegation from the Islamic Emirate’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister conveyed greetings and well wishes from the President of Uzbekistan, Shaukat Mirzayev, to Prime Minister Alhaj Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Bakhtiar Saidov emphasized the importance of brotherhood and good neighborly relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, stating that Uzbekistan stands with Afghanistan and is willing to share its successful experiences, particularly in economic and agricultural projects.
Regarding security in Afghanistan, the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister expressed the country’s interest in investing in the construction of a cement factory, coal extraction, and a 200-megawatt electricity generation project. He also mentioned the Trans-Afghan railway project and announced that a professional team from Uzbekistan would soon visit Afghanistan to assess the technical aspects.
Prime Minister Alhaj Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan warmly welcomed the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister and the delegation, extending greetings to President Shaukat Mirzayev and the honorable members of the Cabinet. The Prime Minister emphasized the religious, cultural, and historical commonalities between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, describing them as two Muslim brother countries. He expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s continuous support during the challenging times Afghanistan has faced. Prime Minister Alhaj Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund assured the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister of full cooperation in implementing the mentioned projects and stated that relevant Afghan institutions and officials have been instructed to work in close coordination. He specifically mentioned the Trans-Afghan Railway project, urging the Uzbekistan delegation to collaborate with the Afghan side.
