During a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center, officials of the ministry of justice shared the annual performance report.
According to the officials, following the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the ministry has undertaken significant measures to eradicate administrative corruption, draft and review legislative documents, safeguard state-owned assets, issue and renew licenses, and provide legal services.
Officials reported that a total of 101 legislative documents have been drafted, with 95 undergoing Islamic jurisprudential review. In addition, 184 legal and regulatory consultations have been provided to governmental institutions, opinions have been rendered on 59 MoUs and agreements, and 50 procedures, regulations, and decrees of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate have been drafted. Moreover, 198 individuals have graduated from the legislative and advocacy internship programs.
In order to protect state-owned property, prevent land seizure, and resolve property disputes, the Emirate’s judiciary has defended 7,928 cases involving movable and immovable property, including 23 residential plots, 25 shops, 2 high-rise buildings, 1 clinic, and 2 inns. Out of a total amount of more than 1 billion and 27 million AFN in administrative and commercial sectors, more than 1 billion and 16 million AFN have been deposited into the state treasury as a result of final court decisions. In addition, more than 10 million and 500 thousand AFN have been ruled in favor of the Emirate, and more than 234 thousand US dollars have been deposited into the state treasury according to court decisions.
Officials stated that in the past year, 3,672 business transaction licenses and 220 licenses for unions and charitable foundations have been renewed, and 5,322 business transaction offices and 401 offices of unions, and charitable foundations have been inspected.
According to the ministry, more than 110 thousand individuals have received essential legal awareness, 1,900 individuals have obtained legal assistance, 1,830 individuals have received legal consultations, and 577 suspects have been acquitted by court order.
Ministry officials said that 1,590 defense lawyer licenses have been renewed, 4,275 criminal, informational, and tax balance forms have been distributed to defense lawyers, 260 petitions and complaints from defense lawyers and clients have been addressed, and 774 law firms have been inspected. #
