In a press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs presented their performance report for the past year.
According to ministry, over the last year, a total of 15 billion, 407 million, 382 thousand, and 708 AFN have been provided in monthly cash assistance to 612,088 widows, orphans, and disabled individuals.
The officials further reported that to enhance the quality of support, a total of 89,442 widows, orphans, and disabled persons have received food and non-food aid from aid organizations.
Officials also noted that, during the past year, the ministry has entered into cooperation agreements with 67 aid organizations, resulting in services worth a total of 4.5 million USD being provided to needy and underprivileged individuals.
The report indicated that 653,265 orphans, widows, and disabled individuals have been identified, and so far, 264,335 of them have been registered in the system in the center and provinces.
In addition, as a result of the verification process completed over the past year, 28,183 individuals who were ineligible were identified and subsequently removed from the system.
The ministry reported that 990 widows, orphans, and disabled individuals were referred to hospitals and health centers for medical treatment, and 3,885 others received necessary services for prosthetics, physiotherapy, orthopedics, and psychotherapy.
Moreover, 120 disabled individuals and orphans have received vocational trainings in fields such as computer skills, electrical appliance repair, and tailoring. Following their training, they have been provided with the necessary equipment.
Looking ahead, the ministry’s priorities for the current year include continuing the registration of orphans, widows, and disabled persons, soliciting and distributing cash and non-cash assistance, administering entitlements on a monthly basis, formalizing agreements with aid organizations, sustaining vocational training programs, implementing the decrees and directives of IEA’s leadership, and delivering essential services. #
