At a press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Prison Administration Authority presented their annual performance report.
According to the report, under the decree of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, 3,200 prisoners were released during the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha, with special sentence reductions granted to an additional 1,655 individuals.
The Authority also facilitated the release of 3,243 prisoners based on court orders and managed the transfer of 3,016 inmates between provinces, from provincial facilities to the central facility and vice versa, and as well as between different provinces. Furthermore, coordination with the Supreme Court was undertaken to resolve the cases of 1,562 inmates.
Officials reported that 2,241 prisoners successfully completed various religious education programs, while 6,408 others are currently engaged in religious studies.
In addition, 1,954 inmates graduated from literacy programs, with 2,350 more actively participating in these educational efforts.
In terms of vocational training, 1,122 prisoners are currently enrolled, and 337 inmates completed their vocational training in various fields during the past year.
The past year also saw the finalization of the detailed plan for the year 1403 (Solar Hijri Calendar), as well as the Authority’s policy and strategic plan.
To support financial needs, medical care for prisoners, sustenance, vocational training, and the equipping of various departments, the Authority entered into cooperation agreements with several organizations.
To enhance the professional skills and capacity of prison police, the Authority conducted workshops and training seminars for 680 officers, and soldiers, with an additional 160 personnel currently undergoing professional development.
Moreover, significant progress was made with the activation of medical, support, and preventive departments within the Authority’s 50-bed hospital, providing treatment to 418,857 prisoners and staff over the past year. #
