At a press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Education presented their annual performance report.
According to the report, during the past year, 1,445,840 new students were enrolled in public and private schools. This has raised the total number of students in these institutions to over 10,914,000.
The officials noted that 316 new schools were established, including 106 public schools and 210 private schools, bringing the overall total to 18,337 schools.
In the past year, 152 primary schools were upgraded to secondary schools, and 119 secondary schools were elevated to high schools. Furthermore, 123 schools and 159 local classes were designated for nomadic children, with 41,824 students currently receiving education at these facilities.
The Ministry also reported that, in 18 provinces, specialized educational services were provided for 484 disabled children, and in 19 provinces, educational materials and resources were supplied for 3,844 disabled students.
Over the past year, the Ministry undertook substantial efforts to revise and update textbooks and curricula, as well as to evaluate the quality of services provided by educational institutions.
The report highlights that 16,188,939 textbooks for grades 1 through 12 were printed and distributed, along with 617,978 textbooks for Islamic education centers, and 294,641 literacy textbooks.
In addition, the implementation of educational plans was monitored in over 16,000 schools and more than 21,000 teachers across educational centers, local classes, and literacy programs. Among these, 5,076 teachers were introduced to capacity-building programs.
The Ministry also conducted capacity-building programs for 248,113 staff members, including officials and teachers.
The report details the establishment of 21,257 Islamic education centers, comprising 19,669 schools, 1,277 Quran memorization centers, 115 religious schools, and 39 orphanages, with a total of 3,687,200 individuals engaged in Islamic education.
To assess the educational credentials of graduates from both domestic and abroad Islamic education centers, over 20,000 assessment forms were distributed.
In an effort to streamline and expedite document processing and the secure transfer of results and certificates, MoU has recently been signed with Afghan Post. In addition, 19 MoUs have been concluded with domestic and international institutions, and 3,570 complaints have been addressed.
The Ministry reported the distribution of 303,000 certificates to grade 12 graduates and the registration of 2,900,000 result records in the electronic system.
Other notable initiatives by the Ministry include the establishment of standardized examination boards and question banks to enhance examination quality, the drafting of a new education law, the enforcement of the school establishment law, and the creation of Jihadi schools.
Furthermore, 804 jeribs of land have been allocated for the construction of schools and administrative offices, with 981 major and repair projects currently underway. The Ministry has constructed 650 new schools and educational institutions and renovated 1,500 existing ones. #
