At a press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET-A) presented their annual performance report.
Officials emphasized that technical and vocational education plays a critical role in developing a skilled workforce, which directly contributes to technological advancement, job creation, poverty reduction, and the country’s overall economic growth.
To enhance both the quality and scope of its services and programs, the entity has implemented a five-year strategic plan designed to strengthen and expand the pool of skilled and specialized workers.
Over the past year, a National Exhibition of Afghanistan’s Top Innovations was successfully organized, during which 152 innovative projects were identified and forwarded to relevant government institutions for implementation.
TVET-A also launched multiple awareness campaigns highlighting the significance of technical and vocational education. Furthermore, two students and two instructors were sent to China to participate in an international innovation competition.
In pursuit of job creation, sustained efforts were made to assist 3,745 graduates in securing employment, and 769 graduates were successfully placed in public and private sectors.
In addition, 32,720 students were enrolled in technical and vocational training centers, while 11,067 individuals graduated from these institutions.
Over the past year, TVET-A conducted short-term vocational training programs for 8,150 participants, and entrepreneurship workshops were provided to 100 graduates.
Officials noted that existing programs in technical and vocational education centers underwent a thorough review, and steps were taken to introduce new courses. TVET-A also adopted best practices from nine countries in the field of technical and vocational education. Guidelines for drafting educational resources, scientific papers, and research theses were also developed.
The National Standards Institute of Afghanistan was established in Kabul, and a comprehensive plan to operationalize a scientific and applied university was prepared.
As part of its efforts to drive innovation, 10 ideas were assessed and transformed into fully-fledged projects. The entity also expanded its collaboration with various agencies to offer short-term vocational courses.
During the past year, TVET-A designed multiple strategic plans, policies, legislative documents, and innovative concepts. It also organized training workshops for technical and vocational education instructors, as well as special education teachers. A comprehensive review of the implementation and execution of operational plans was conducted at both central and provincial levels.
In addition, 16 MoUs were signed with national and international organizations, and TVET-A coordinated with 25 institutions to improve and expand technical and vocational education across the country. #
