The meeting, held on Monday (October 14, 2023), at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), was inaugurated with welcoming remarks by the Deputy Director of GMIC, Hashmatullah Nasiri. He highlighted the importance of the gathering, stressing that its primary objective was to enhance cooperation and interaction between government institutions and the media.
Subsequently, the Director of the Government Information and Media Center, Mawlawi Naeem Haq Haqqani, underscored the significance of reinforcing mutual collaboration between government institutions and the media. He reiterated the center’s commitment to serving as a communication bridge, facilitating stronger cooperation and coordination between both parties in the domains of media and information, while working collectively to address existing challenges.
Mr. Haqqani further emphasized that the Islamic Emirate has achieved notable and concrete progress across various sectors. He stressed the importance of robust cooperation between the government institutions and media in accurately conveying these achievements. The Director also reaffirmed efforts to resolve media concerns regarding access to information, while providing an improved platform for showcasing governmental successes through these coordinated sessions.
During the meeting, media representatives and journalists shared their views, expressing appreciation for the initiative taken by the Government Media and Information Center to foster stronger ties between the government institutions and the media. They recognized the meeting as a timely and positive step in strengthening collaboration.
Journalists and media officials raised certain challenges related to access to information, and offered recommendations for addressing these issues, which were discussed with the participants.
Furthermore, spokespersons from the Ministries of Public Works, Urban Development and Housing, Mines and Petroleum, and the National Standards Authority, also delivered remarks. They expressed their gratitude to the leadership of GMIC for its efforts in strengthening cooperation between spokespersons and the media.
The spokespersons affirmed their commitment to promoting transparency by reflecting the government’s achievements, enhancing access to information, and fostering closer collaboration with the media, with the goal of resolving existing challenges and streamlining the flow of information.
