In a press conference held at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Information and Culture delivered a comprehensive report on the ministry’s activities over the past year.
According to the officials, MoUs were signed with 100 educational institutions and training centers, facilitating access to higher education for 1,581 individuals free of charge, and for an additional 17,787 individuals at special discounted rates, both in the capital and across various provinces.
Officials further highlighted the establishment of 18 youth capacity-building centers in collaboration with international organizations, which have thus far benefited approximately 14,000 young people.
The ministry also organized 310 educational seminars and cultural forums aimed at empowering the youth, marking one of its key achievements in the past year.
In the realm of tourism, ministry officials reported that 9,000 foreign nationals visited Afghanistan’s historical and recreational sites over the past year. In addition, 9 million domestic tourists were registered during the same period.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the tourism industry in the country, with the recent activation of the Tourism and Hospitality Institute, where a significant number of young individuals are currently enrolled in professional training programs.
To further promote the tourism sector, the construction of several standard hotels is currently underway in various provinces, aimed at improving tourism infrastructure.
In addition, the ministry disclosed that 3,000 tourism companies are registered under its authority, providing direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of individuals.
Officials said that 620 journalists have been issued press credentials to date, guideline for YouTube channels has been finalized, and the guideline for the Journalist Fund have been drafted.
They added that a scientific survey of 400 archaeological sites in 14 provinces of the country has been conducted, and 371 archaeological sites have been identified and documented.
Among the ministry’s key achievements over the past year are the organization of 12 theatrical performances, the registration of 2,410 historical artifacts from various periods, and the prevention of the smuggling of 416 artifacts at Kabul International Airport and various customs points nationwide.
Officials further stated that six documentaries on various topics have been produced and broadcasted, 11 scripts for films and TV series have been revised, and 20 exhibitions of paintings, calligraphy, miniatures, and handicrafts have been conducted.
