Officials of the National Development Corporation (NDC) say that 50% of the work on QoshTepa canal dam in Kaldar district of Balkh province has been completed.
According to these officials, more than 2,000 people with 1,000 machines are engaged in the construction of the canal’s dam – which will hopefully be completed in the near future.
Currently, work on the second phase of QoshTepa canal is underway.
A number of people employed on this project say that one of their biggest dreams, which was the creation of QoshTepa Canal, is being fulfilled.
QoshTepa Canal is one of the largest canals in the country, and upon its completion, thousands of acres of agricultural land will be irrigated and Afghanistan will become self-sufficient in grain production.
