The acting minister of refugees and repatriation, Khalil Rahman Haqqani, said countries that host Afghan refugees should avoid their arrest.

Addressing a gathering in Kabul on Tuesday, Haqqani said that host countries should also avoid deporting Afghan refugees.

Haqqani stressed said countries should ensure the rights of refugees.

Meanwhile, a number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, Iran and Turkey have expressed their deepest concerns about their situation.

They called on the Islamic Emirate to talk with host countries about their situation.

This comes as millions of Afghan refugees are living in Iran and Pakistan. Afghanistan’s embassy in Islamabad said this week that at least 2,000 Afghan refugees have been arrested by Pakistani forces over the past three months. The embassy said that over 1,500 refugees are still in Pakistani forces’ custody.
