A cotton processing factor has been inaugurated in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province.
The factory is situated in the Bolan area of Lashkargah, some officials and industrialists were present during its inauguration.
The factory has been built during eight months at the cost of 65 million Afs and created direct and indirect employment for 200 people.
This factor has the capacity of processing three tons of cotton in one hour and in addition to that it has the capacity to produce cotton cake, oil and soap as well.
Helmand Commerce and Industry Association Head Ghulam Yahya Pashton said currently around 41 factories are functioning in the province in which 3,500 people are employed.
Helmand residents believed the construction of factories was the need of hour and demanded the empowerment of this sector.
