Qalandar Ebad, Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with Zhao Sheng, the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan, to discuss the improvement in the public health sector.
According to the ministry, issues around Jamhoriat Hospital were discussed, along with the improvement of the capacity of Afghan doctors, investment in the health sector, control and prevention of COVID19 and the eradication of polio.
Ebad said good relations between Afghanistan and China are essential and called for bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the ministry said in a statement.
“Improving the capacity of Afghan doctors is one of our priorities and we have a lot of human resources in Afghanistan that must be worked on for capacity building,” the statement read.
Zhao in turn said strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries was necessary and stated his country would cooperate in the health sector.
