In a recent statement, Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs of India, announced that a delegation led by India’s Special Representative for Afghanistan has visited the country.
The visit focused on discussions about India’s humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and the utilization of the Chabahar Port by Afghan traders, in meetings held with Afghan authorities and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
Jaiswal highlighted the historical and civilizational ties between India and Afghanistan, stating that these bonds would continue to guide India’s approach and policies towards Afghanistan.
The spokesperson further noted that New Delhi initiated its technical mission in Kabul in June 2022, underscoring India’s commitment to its relationship with Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson, stated that the Islamic Emirate pledged to the Indian representative for Afghanistan it would facilitate the expansion of economic and political relations.
Analysts expressed a positive outlook on the historical relations between Afghanistan and India, suggesting that enhancing political and economic relations with the interim government of Afghanistan could be beneficial for both countries. During a meeting with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ joint secretary J.P Singh, Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister, expressed a desire to strengthen political and economic relations, including easing the issuance of business and student visas for Afghan citizens.
