At the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), a conference was held to announce significant tax exemptions and discounts for shopkeepers, in accordance with the latest decree issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (may Allah protect him).
The conference was organized by the Finance Ministry and was attended by various cabinet members, including the Administrative Deputy Prime Minister, several cabinet ministers, the General Director of Administrative Affairs, the Director of Supervision and Prosecution of Decrees and Orders, the Director of Emirati Companies, and representatives of Shopkeeper Unions.
In his address at the conference, H.E Mowlawi Abdul Salaam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, revealed that in response to requests for tax relief from shopkeepers, the Supreme Leader (may Allah protect him) has issued a decree granting significant exemptions and discounts. Providing further details on the decree, the Deputy Prime Minister explained that under the directive of the Supreme Leader (may Allah protect him), sales till 2 million AFN will be exempt from sales tax, while a 0.3% tax will be applied to sales exceeding this amount.
Additionally, Mullah Mohammad Nasir Akhund, the Acting Minister of Finance, underscored the commitment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to providing facilities for the nation. He highlighted that in line with the decree of the Supreme Leader (may Allah protect him), shopkeepers with annual sales of 2 million AFN or less are exempt from tax obligations, while those with sales exceeding this amount will only incur a 0.3% tax.
Furthermore, during the conference, ministers of Industry and Commerce, Higher Education, and Economy, along with the General Director of Administrative Affairs and the President of the Shopkeepers Union, expressed their appreciation for the issuance of the decree. They emphasized the continuous efforts of the Supreme Leader to enhance facilities and ease for the nation.
