Officials from the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing presented their annual performance report during a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center.
Highlights from the past year include the approval of 57 urban development plans for provincial and district centers, completion of the first phase of the Qatari Township in Kabul, identification of 3,181 urban violations, oversight of 443 construction projects nationwide, measures for land transfer to establish migrant townships, and approval of the detailed plan for the third phase of New Kabul City.
Officials reported that 25% of the Nile Bagh Township construction in the Darulaman area of Kabul city has been completed, with full operational status expected within 38 months.
Officials also stated that over the past year, a residential township in Kandahar province was inaugurated, construction of a residential township for 500 families in Helmand province is ongoing, and a housing survey for 20,000 families in Nangarhar province has been completed.
To alleviate traffic congestion and develop transport terminals in the districts of Char Asiab, Khak Jabbar, Estalif, and Arghandi in Kabul province, work is progressing on building designs and land transfer to the Ministry of Transport.
According to the ministry, nationwide, 3,181 urban violations have been identified, and initiatives to prevent further violations are actively underway. Concurrently, construction in New Kabul City continues, offering favorable opportunities for private sector engagement, and the planning and design of a standard medical complex in the city are in progress.
Officials said, other achievements over the past year include the approval of detailed plans for 13 townships, preparation of regional development plans for Nuristan, Sar-e Pol, and Kunduz, layout planning for 315 areas designated for public utility buildings, improvement plans for the 15 districts of Herat city, and the development of 163 construction maps, 249 engineering designs, and 99 project assessments.
Under the directive of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, priorities for the current year include the preparation of detailed plans for districts and topographic surveys for township construction in 16 provinces, implementation of detailed plans in 10 provinces, preparation of detailed plans for 7 zones and 16 provinces, detailed plans for residential areas in Kabul and other provinces, drafting the national comprehensive strategic plan, and improvement plans for the centers of 6 provinces, along with implementation of improvement plans in the provincial centers of Parwan and Faryab. #
