The Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, held a meeting with the EU Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan, Mrs. Veronika Bošković-Pohar, and her accompanying delegation.
At the outset, Mrs. Veronika Bošković-Pohar spoke about the EU’s activities, stating that the EU will continue its humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan across various sectors and that it is demanding the addressing of existing challenges. She highlighted the importance of maintaining ties between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and the EU, adding that the EU strives to carry out its activities effectively in the needed fields.
Extending a warm welcome to Mrs. Veronika Bošković-Pohar and her delegation, the Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, expressed gratitude for the EU’s assistance and emphasized that the IEA seeks positive relations with the international community. He added that the IEA has initiated the country’s prosperity using its own budget, and efforts are being made to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the IEA’s ties with the world are growing, mentioning that while several embassies operate in Afghanistan, the IEA now has 40 political missions abroad, and the number is increasing. He called for EU assistance to Afghanistan in areas such as development, drug elimination, alternative cultivation, job creation, and drug addicted people treatment. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored that the IEA is combating the drug issue lonely and described global assistance as beneficial.
In his concluding remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister again emphasized that the IEA has addressed all international concerns related to the threats posed by Afghanistan.
