During a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center, officials from the National Statistics and Information Authority presented their annual performance report. According to these officials, 3,265,600 electronic ID cards were distributed in the past year, reflecting a 23% increase from the prior year.
Officials noted that since the reinstatement of the Islamic Emirate, the total number of distributed electronic ID cards has surpassed 7.8 million. Cumulatively, 13,868,000 electronic ID cards have been issued since the inception of this process.
Officials stated that to provide better services, five Asan Khedmat offices have been activated in the capital and provinces, providing services to over 200,000 people in electronic ID card distribution, birth certificates, and other areas.
In pursuit of better facilities and expedited services, the Asan Khedmat office has recently commenced operations in the United Arab Emirates. Plans are underway to launch additional offices in Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the provinces of Paktia, Faryab, Farah, and Kunduz.
Officials emphasized that to achieve precise statistics and data, numerous surveys have been conducted across various sectors over the past year, with findings disseminated to the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, the authority’s findings revealed that the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached $17.23 billion last year, a 2.7% increase from the previous year.
Moreover, according to the authority, approximately 2,023,000 hectares of land were planted with wheat last year, with production increasing by 14.4% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, grain production was about 5,206,000 metric tons, and cotton production was 122,455 metric tons, showing increases of 13.2% and 68.9%, respectively.
Priority initiatives for the authority this year include conducting surveys across various sectors, increasing the distribution of electronic ID cards to 4 million, establishing Asan Khedmat offices in Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar, Helmand, and Herat, opening Asan Khedmat offices in Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, and launching electronic ID card distribution offices in the districts of Shindand in Herat, Shinwar in Nangarhar, Moqur in Ghazni, Balkh in Balkh province, and Kishim and Raghistan in Badakhshan province.
