Report of the Daily Activities of Committees of the High Commission to Address Problems of Returning Refugees

Afghan refugees returned to the country through different routes, and they were provided with necessary services in different areas.
The comprehensive report of the committee’s activities is as follows:
Nangarhar
Torkham (Durand Fictitious Line)
Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:
A total of 87 families returned to the country via Torkham, and the registration and biometric data of 216 family members have been recorded and verified.
Finance Management Committee:
The Financial Affairs Committee provided assistance to 67 families, providing a combined total of 670,000 Afghanis.
Transportation and Transfer Committee:
42 families consisting of 211 members were safely transported from Torkham to Jalalabad, Laghman, and Kabul provinces. These families were granted a rental allowance of 42,500 Afghanis.
Temporary Settlement Committee:
A total of 44 families were accommodated in a temporary settlement camp in Torkham. It is important to note that Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Rashid, the professional deputy of the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees and the head of the temporary settlement committee, visited Torkham with a delegation.
He inspected the committee’s activities, provided essential services to the refugees, and delivered necessary instructions.
During his visit, Mr. Rashid expressed gratitude to the organizations for their services and assured them of the support from the United Nations and other organizations, which will facilitate improved services for the refugees.
Services and Health Affairs Committee:
Various services, including healthcare, were provided to the returning refugees in the Torkham camp. The following assistance was provided:
– Food: 2,600 meals and 85,000 liters of clean water were distributed in the Torkham camps.
– Food items and clothing: Distribution included 65 boards, blankets, flooring materials, gas stoves, 65 packages of raw food, and other miscellaneous items.
– Communication: 142 SIM cards with activated free minutes and internet packages were distributed to the returning migrants.
Mosques and Education Organizing Committee:
In collaboration with the Culture and information department of the Nangarhar province education department, the organizing committee for mosques and education registered 34 students, facilitating their enrollment in educational institutions.
The committee assists refugees returning through Torkham, ensuring that their children’s incomplete education is addressed and formally transferring them to their respective provinces to continue their studies.
Job seeking Committee:
The employment committee registered a total of 102 professionals, including 12 bachelor’s degree holders, 2 post-baccalaureate degree holders, 2 bachelor’s degree holders, 2 hafizans (those who have memorized the Quran), and 32 poor workers.
Additionally, the committee provided public awareness sessions to 40 children in Torkham, focusing on topics such as explosives, cleanliness, child protection, Afghanistan, and organized recreational activities to promote their mental well-being. Moreover, the committee successfully reunited two separated children with their families.
Information and Public Awareness Committee:
In Torkham, the committee continued to raise public awareness among refugees, providing valuable information on registration processes, transfers, financial assistance, short-term settlement, understanding of the country, the Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and training.
Amr Ba-al-Moruf and Nahi-in-ul-Munkar Department ombudsmen of Nangarhar province also conducted awareness sessions in various areas. Additionally, the committee distributed 40 immigration forms in coordination with the IOM office.
Kandahar
Spin Boldak (Durand Fictitious Line):
Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:
38 families comprising 191 members returned to the country via Spin Boldak and were duly registered.
Finance Management Committee:
The Financial Affairs Committee provided financial assistance of 10,000 Afghanis to 46 families, totaling 460,000 Afghanis.
Transportation and Shipping Committee:
Two families with a total of 17 members from Spin Boldak were safely transported to Kandahar today, and these families were provided with a rental allowance of 3,000 Afghanis.
Temporary Settlement Committee:
25 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp in Spin Boldak.
Services and Health Affairs Committee:
In Spin Boldak, various services were provided to returning refugees, including:
– Food: Distribution of food and clean water to 1,110 individuals in Spin Boldak.
– Health: Medical treatment was provided to 392 returning refugees in Spin Boldak.
– Public awareness: 344 refugees received awareness sessions on various health-related topics.
– Clothing: Tents, blankets, and other essential items were distributed to refugees in short-term camps.
– Communication: The Department of Communication Services distributed 110 SIM cards to returning refugees, offering free minutes and internet packages.
Job Seeking Committee:
In Spin Boldak, the Employment Committee registered a total of 92 individuals, including 2 bachelor’s degree holders, 3 religious scholars, 59 poor workers, and 28 professionals. Additionally, the committee provided public awareness sessions on explosives, cleanliness, child protection, and Afghanistan to 142 children in Spin Boldak.
Zabul
Shamulzai Rout (Durand Fictitious Line):
Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:
A total of 26 members from 3 families returned to the country and completed the registration process.
Finance Management Committee:
The Financial Affairs Committee provided cash assistance of 10,000 Afghanis to each of the 3 families, totaling 30,000 Afghanis.
Transportation and Transfer Committee:
Two families comprising 17 members were safely transported from the Shamalzo road to their respective areas and villages.
Information and Public Awareness Committee:
As part of ongoing efforts, public awareness sessions were conducted for refugees in Shamilzo. The sessions covered important topics such as registration procedures, transfers, financial assistance, short-term settlement, understanding of the country, the Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and training.
Paktika
Angor Ada (Durand Fictitious Line):
Registration, Confirmation, and Reception Committee:
2 families returned to the country via the Angur base and were officially registered.
Finance Management Committee:
The Financial Affairs Committee provided cash assistance of 10,000 Afghanis to each of the two families, amounting to a total of 200,000 Afghanis.
Transportation and Shipping Committee:
Two families were safely transported from the Angur base to their respective areas and villages.
Services and Health Affairs Committee:
Various services, including healthcare, were provided to returning refugees at Angur Adha and Sharna.
The following assistance was given:
– Food: Distribution of 65 meals and clean water to refugees at Angur Adha and Sharna.
– Health: Medical treatment for 29 returning refugees and administration of 3 different vaccines at the Angur base.
Information and Public Awareness Committee:
Refugees traveling to the Angor Ada received public awareness sessions, covering important topics such as registration procedures, transfers, financial assistance, short-term settlement, understanding of the country, the Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and training.
Nimroz
Silk Rout:
Registration, and Reception Committee:
A total of 45 families, comprising 147 members, returned to the country and registered. Additionally, 2,148 passengers returned to the country via the Silk Road in Nimruz province.
Finance Management Committee:
The Finance Management Committee donated 10 Afghanis to each of the 8 families in the Silk Road of Nimruz province, amounting to a total of 80,000 Afghanis.
Temporary Settlement Committee:
29 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp in Nimroz.
Services and Health Affairs Committee:
Various services, including healthcare, were provided to the refugees who returned on the Nimruz Silk Road today. In addition, officials from the Communications and Information Technology distributed 45 SIM cards to the refugees, offering free minutes and internet packages.
Information and Public Awareness Committee:
Public awareness sessions were conducted for 147 refugees on the Silk Road in Nimroz Province. These sessions provided useful information about registration procedures, transfers, financial assistance, short-term settlement, understanding of the country, the Islamic system, migration, patience, tolerance, education, and training.
Herat
Temporary Settlement Committee:
35 families were accommodated in a short-term settlement camp in Herat.
Kabul
Transportation and Shipping Committee:
26 families, totaling 100 members, were safely transported to Balkh and Kunduz provinces. The total cost of car rental for these families amounted to 72,700 Afghanis.
Aggregate Figures:
The combined figures of various activities across all doors and committees are as follows:
– Total Registered Refugees: 175 families and 584 individuals
– Total Transferred Migrants: 74 families and 349 individuals
– Total Assisted Refugees: 126 families
– Temporarily Settled Migrants: 133 families
– Total Refugees Treated: 421 individuals
– Distributed SIM Cards: 297 in number
