The Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, held a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan, Takeyoshi Kuramaya.
At the outset, Mr. Takeyoshi Kuramaya emphasized the significance of the Doha Meeting, noting that the participation of the Islamic Emirate and ongoing bilateral dialogues have fostered a positive atmosphere for engagement.
Acknowledging the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in facilitating conditions for the private sector and combating narcotics, the Ambassador announced a $10 million USD allocation for alternative livelihoods in Afghanistan to support the Emirate’s anti-drug efforts. Moreover, he highlighted that his country has kicked off basic projects aimed at strengthening the private sector, adding ongoing assistance in this regard from his country.
In response, the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Kabir expressed gratitude for Japan’s aid to the Afghan people and expressed hopes regarding the promises made at the Doha Meeting, particularly the alternative of the drug and enhancing the private sector.
Recognizing the significance and success of the 3rd Doha Meeting, Deputy PM noted that the United Nations has accepted Afghanistan’s conditions and suggestions. He expressed hopes for the removal of banking restrictions on Afghanistan following discussions at the meeting.
In conclusion, the Deputy PM stressed in his closing remarks that the Islamic Emirate seeks to expand engagement and ties worldwide and will not permit anyone to use Afghanistan’s soil against other countries.
