MoHRA: The 1447 AH Remaining Hajj Expenses to Be Refunded to Pilgrims
Today, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, officials from the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs (MoHRA) held a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) to provide comprehensive information regarding the refund of the remaining Hajj expenses to pilgrims.
During the press conference, MoHRA officials stated that after completing a final financial review of the expenses for the 1447 AH Hajj, the ministry will refund the remaining balance of the Hajj payments to Afghan pilgrims. The distribution of these refunds will begin on Saturday, August 1.
The officials further stated that, based on the quota allocated by Saudi Arabia, 30000 Afghan citizens traveled to perform Hajj. All Hajj rituals were completed successfully, and all pilgrims returned safely to Afghanistan after the pilgrimage.
According to the officials, a total of 7818307200 Afghani was collected from the pilgrims to cover Hajj expenses, with each pilgrim paying 266400 Afghani. Following the final financial assessment, the total cost of organizing the Hajj program was calculated at 7723741583.60 Afghani, making the actual cost per pilgrim 263177.78 Afghani.
As a result, 94565616.40 Afghani remained unspent, and the ministry will refund this amount to the pilgrims, with each pilgrim receiving 3223 Afghani.
The officials emphasized that there is no deadline for receiving the remaining funds, and pilgrims may claim their money from Da Afghanistan Bank at any time.
According to the information provided, pilgrims can visit either the General Directorate of Hajj, Umrah, and Pilgrimages (Hajj Complex) in Kabul or the Provincial Directorate of Hajj and Religious Affairs to receive their remaining funds by presenting their passport, the original national ID card, and a color photocopy of the ID card.
