Economic Policy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Approved

The regular meeting of the Economic Commission, chaired by the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was held today, June 22, 2025 at the Marmarin Palace.

During the meeting, the Economic Policy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was presented for discussion and, following a comprehensive review, was approved.

The vision of the approved policy is: “A developed and prosperous Afghanistan based on the Islamic economic system.”

Its key objectives include creating a conducive environment for attracting and expanding investment, increasing domestic production and exports, raising employment levels and reducing poverty, ensuring sustainable economic growth and development, and strengthening economic stability, prosperity, and Islamic social justice.

The economic policy is expected to play a vital role in coordinating national economic activities, optimizing the use of resources, and supporting the private sector.

Additionally, during the meeting, the Ministry of Finance was instructed to allocate the required budget for FY 1404 SH to implement the electricity grid extension project to 13 villages in Pul-e-Khumri, the capital of Baghlan province. This project will be executed by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the proposal for constructing a commercial market on the land of the Ministry of Hajj, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in Balkh province was approved. According to the plan, the private sector will invest 740 million Afghanis in the construction of an eight-story commercial market, which will house a total of 878 shops.

Likewise, the proposal for constructing a standard commercial market on municipality land in Sar-e-Pul province was also approved. Under this project, the private sector will invest 96 million Afghanis in the development of the market.

All the above decisions were submitted to the Office of Esteemed Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him) for final approval.
