GMIC Leadership Visits the Kabul Offices of AFP, BBC, and The New York Times

The Director of the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), Mawlavi Naeemulhaq Haqqani, accompanied by his Deputy, Hashmatullah Nasiri, conducted an official visit on Wednesday (27 November 2025) to the Kabul offices of Agency France-Presse (AFP), BBC, and The New York Times.

At the outset, GMIC Deputy Director Hashmatullah Nasiri provided an in-depth briefing on the purpose and objectives of the visit. He stated that the GMIC leadership has launched a series of engagements with domestic and international media institutions to directly assess the challenges they face in accessing information and to explore appropriate and practical solutions.

Following this, GMIC Director Mawlavi Naeemulhaq Haqqani underscored the pivotal role of media in advancing societal progress, enhancing public awareness, and fostering trust between government and their citizens. He reaffirmed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan supports media operations within the framework of Islamic principles and remains firmly committed to its obligations in this regard.

Mr. Haqqani called on the leadership of AFP, BBC, and The New York Times to present the genuine realities of Afghanistan to the international community.

He further emphasized that the GMIC does not differentiate between domestic and foreign media outlets, stressing the Center’s commitment to ensuring equal access to information for all.

The representatives of AFP, BBC, and The New York Times welcomed the GMIC delegation and commended the Center’s initiative to engage directly with media organizations as a means of strengthening cooperation and enhancing professional interaction.

They also provided detailed insights into their journalistic activities in Afghanistan and globally, reiterating their commitment to reporting factual, balanced, and credible information.

In conclusion, both parties emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation and reinforcing constructive engagement moving forward.
