Procurement Commission Approves 17 Projects Worth Around AFN 5 Billion

A regular meeting of the Procurement Commission, chaired by the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was held today, Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the Marmarin Palace.

Twenty-nine projects were presented for discussion. After thorough consideration, 17 projects worth around AFN 5 billion were approved, and required amendments were approved for five other projects.

Committees were also assigned to negotiate project prices with the winning and eligible companies for four projects and submit their reports to the Procurement Commission’s leadership.

Two projects were sent back to open bidding because of performance deficiencies by the winning companies, which were referred to the Debarment Committee. In addition, one project was sent back to open bidding so it could be awarded to a qualified and eligible company.

The approved projects include construction work at the Aqina Customs facility; rehabilitation of the first section of the main highway from the Helmand crossroads to Herat; expansion of the 220-kilovolt line at Nangarhar’s Hesar Shahi substation; construction of a 40-megavolt-ampere substation to transmit power to the gas plant in the Yatim Taq area of Jawzjan; construction of several roads in Kabul; and implementation of several electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces.

The approved projects will be funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
