Mujahid: One Billion AFN Allocated by the Prime Minister’s Office for Immediate Relief to Earthquake Victims

At a press conference held today, Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Government Media and Information Center, Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, briefed the media on the details of last night’s earthquake.

At the outset, Zabihullah Mujahid conveyed the Islamic Emirate’s message of condolences regarding the loss of life and damages caused by the earthquake. The message invoked prayers to Almighty Allah for the martyrs to attain paradise, for the injured to receive swift recovery, and for the bereaved families to be granted patience and resilience. Relevant government entities were directed to utilize available resources to expedite assistance to those affected.

Mujahid further announced that, following the instructions of the Prime Minister, a special committee has been established under the chairmanship of the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, with the participation of officials from relevant agencies, to ensure an organized and effective response to the disaster. An allocation of one billion AFN has been designated for immediate relief, with additional financial support to be provided as needed.

According to preliminary reports, 800 people were martyred and 2,500 injured in Kunar; 12 were martyred and 255 injured in Nangarhar; 58 were injured in Laghman; and 4 were injured in Nooristan province.

Mujahid noted that the Ministries of Interior, Defense, and Public Health, along with provincial governors and relevant entities, have undertaken essential measures to recover the deceased, transport the injured, and deliver critical food, medical, and other supplies.

In conclusion, the spokesperson called upon charitable organizations, businessmen, and the citizens of Afghanistan to support the earthquake victims and ensure timely assistance. He emphasized that all aid should be coordinated and delivered through the established committee to maximize efficiency and impact. #
