H.E. Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, participated in and delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony of the flyover construction in front of the Kabul Provincial Office.
The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, members of the cabinet, and officials from other departments. At the outset, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs commended the Kabul Municipality for its practical efforts and achievements.
The Deputy Prime Minister announced the inauguration of a major flyover in central Kabul, measuring 283 meters in length and 18 meters in width, built at a total cost of 462 million Afghanis, connecting Sadarat Intersection to Jow-i-Shir Road. He further noted that, during the current year, the Kabul Municipality is implementing 258 development projects, of which 200 are currently under construction.
Over the past four years, the municipality has completed and commissioned 350 kilometers of roads, including main and secondary streets. For the year 1404, a development budget of 8.113 billion Afghanis has been allocated to the Kabul Municipality, which, if fully utilized, will significantly transform the city. The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted various municipal initiatives, including the installation of traffic signs and boards, construction of parking facilities, and beautification projects.
He added that in the future, the Islamic Emirate plans to introduce metro, tramway, and BRT systems on city streets, which will contribute to environmental standards, greenery, and urban aesthetics in Kabul and other cities.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to carrying out development projects and promoting social welfare, urging all citizens to cooperate with authorities in keeping the city clean and green.
