Afghanistan Secures 30,000 Hajj Quota for 1405; Costs Set at AFN 266,400 Per Pilgrim

The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs, announced that Saudi Arabia has allocated 30,000 Hajj slots to Afghanistan for the 1405.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, January 31, 2026, held at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), the ministry’s leadership said the quota has been distributed transparently and fairly among eligible applicants.
Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Dr. Noor Mohammad Saqib, noted that following recent developments in the country, the number of long-waiting Hajj applicants had reached 87,104, but the ministry has managed to organize their dispatch within a five-year plan through structured measures.
The ministry also announced that a well-organized quota system has been set for different segments of society. In addition, teacher selection exams will soon begin in all 34 provinces, and qualified individuals will accompany pilgrims to Saudi Arabia as instructors.
According to the ministry, multiple contracts have been signed with domestic companies and Saudi-based firms to ensure essential services for pilgrims, including transportation, accommodation, meals, and other facilities.
The ministry confirmed that the cost per pilgrim for the 1405 Hajj process has been set at AFN 266,400, while the total estimated cost of the overall Hajj process is AFN 7,818,307,200.
The official Hajj registration process for year 1405, is set to begin on Monday this week, and applicants can obtain bank fee forms from the General Directorate of Hajj, Umrah and Ziyarat in Kabul, as well as from the provincial directorates across the country.
