Construction Works for the Yatim Taq Cement Production Plant Inaugurated

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Today, Monday, April 27, 2026, inaugurated the construction works of the Yatim Taq Cement Production Plant in Jawzjan Province.

The Deputy PM emphasized that strengthening domestic industry and supporting local production are essential for Afghanistan’s economic growth and for taking accelerated steps toward a production-based economy. He stressed the urgent need to address this matter.

He added that, as part of fulfilling this major national responsibility, the practical work on this important factory has commenced in Jawzjan Province. He noted that the project will play a significant role in strengthening domestic industry, reducing reliance on imports, and contributing to the country’s economic development. He further stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is fully focused on enhancing domestic production and is striving to create opportunities for processing raw materials inside the country instead of exporting them.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund once again called on the international community to strengthen engagement with Afghanistan within the framework of the formal economy and to take advantage of the unprecedented security and political stability, as well as the country’s potential capacity. According to him, narrowing the global and regional political and economic space, pursuing policies of exclusion at the international level, and prolonging sanctions cannot resolve the challenges of global politics and the global economy. On the contrary, such policies generate threats and reduce opportunities for regional and international cooperation.

In conclusion, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund congratulated all citizens on the launch of this factory’s construction and urged the relevant institutions and the contracting company to carry out the work with high quality.

For the construction of the Yatim Taq Cement Production Plant, Turkish Construction Company 77 is investing a total of $160 million. The plant will produce 3,000 tons of cement per day and will create employment opportunities for 5,000 people, both directly and indirectly. The construction is expected to be completed within two years.
