During the session, in addition to the GMIC’s leadership, directors of publications of government institutions, as well as representatives of media outlets and media organizations participated.

At the outset, while warmly welcoming the participants, the Director of GMIC, Mawlawi Naeemulhaq Haqqani provided comprehensive information on the need, importance and objectives of publishing the Afghanistan Media Information Guidebook.

Mawlawi Haqqani stated that previously there was no accurate statistic on active media in the country. Therefore, GMIC found it necessary to collect information on active media across the country and publish the Afghanistan Media Information Guidebook, so that reliable statistics on media would be available and government officials could enhance their knowledge. He further added that this book includes all active media outlets across the country. Once distributed to government entities, it will help officials better understand the media sector and increase the level of cooperation and coordination among them.

Subsequently, the Deputy Director of GMIC, Mr. Hashmatullah Nasiri provided detailed information about the process of collecting data from institutions and media, as well as the organization, editing, and publication of the book. He also encouraged participants to share their suggestions and opinions to further improve the next edition.

Furthermore, directors of publications of government institutions and media representatives spoke and described the Afghanistan Media Information Guidebook as an important step in providing accurate statistic on active media and strengthening coordination with government institutions. They also shared their suggestions and opinions with the GMIC leadership to further enrich the content of the book.

The GMIC leadership considered the participants’ suggestions and opinions valuable for improving the book and stated that they would be included as much as possible in the new edition.
