Pharmaceutical Factories in Herat Produce Over 1,000 Types of Medicines
Muhammad Nasir Amin, Head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines and Deputy of the Afghanistan Pharmacists Association, stated that more than ten pharmaceutical factories in Herat produce over 1,000 types of medicines, meeting a significant portion of patients’ needs.
Several pharmacy owners in Herat noted that locally manufactured medicines now meet acceptable quality standards, and people are increasingly relying on them with confidence. They added that domestic medicines are gradually replacing foreign products, particularly those imported from Pakistan, and that the market for local medicines in Herat is expanding steadily.
This development comes as the Islamic Emirate has granted traders across the country a three-month period to settle accounts for Pakistani medicines. After this period, the sale of such medicines will be prohibited.
