KM: Several Projects on Infrastructure, Clearance, and Urban Exploration Implemented

Today, on 20 July 2025, officials from the Kabul Municipality (KM), during a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), presented the KM’s annual achievements and performances as part of IEA’s entity to report the annual achievements.

During the press conference, the officials stated that the KM using the domestic budget, has implemented several infrastructural projects, including the construction of 83.85 km of public and subsidiary streets, surveying and designing 86.05 km of streets, and 10.340 km of canals.

According to them, over the past year, as part of clearance preservation, urban greenery and environmental health, 455,772 tons of trash, 38,788 cubic meters of sewage, and 15,089 cubic meters of excess water have been collected and moved from various districts of Kabul city. Additionally, along with collecting, removing, vaccinating, and sterilizing 19,925 stray dogs, 958,518 seedlings and flowers have been planted, and 20,000 square meters of grass have been planted.

Based on the information, over the past year, 234,498 kg of expired and poor-quality materials have been collected, and 188,588 kg of spoiled food has been eliminated. Also, over the past year, the technical documents for 120 new projects have been prepared, and over 800 constructional permits have been issued. 

Furthermore, the officials mentioned that out of 501 constructions in 22 districts of Kabul city, constructional oversight was conducted 3,084 times, 129 illegal constructions were stopped, and 3,303 construction violations have been recorded in the system.

Based on the information, to implement public benefit projects, 1,086 properties were acquired, and more than 1.7 billion AFN have been paid to property owners over the past year.

Beautifying and repairing important squares, reconstructing rural fountains, and constructing and repairing public sites are the key activities of Kabul Municipality over the last year.
