NSIA Presents Annual Achievements

On 29 July 2025, officials from the National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA), during a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), presented the NSIA’s annual achievements and performances as part of IEA’s entity to report the annual achievements.
During the press conference, the officials of NSIA stated that over the past year, the authority has played a prominent role in the collection and analysis of precise statistical data, the issuance of national identity cards, identity verification, the execution of surveys, and the provision of standardized services to citizens. According to the reported statistics, Afghanistan's exports last year exceeded USD 1.7 billion, while imports amounted to approximately USD 11.7 billion. Afghanistan’s main export items include dried figs, cotton, raisins, and coal, which have been primarily exported to Pakistan, India, Iran, the UAE, and Uzbekistan.
Moreover, the officials mentioned that according to the authority’s estimates, Afghanistan’s population has reached 36.4 million, of which 51 percent are men and 49 percent are women. Over the past year, five major surveys were successfully conducted, including the national health survey, the mapping of villages in Logar province, the survey of acquired areas around the Kajaki Dam, the identification of agricultural zones, and the cotton production survey. Likeiwsw, over 2.4 million electronic ID cards were distributed, of which approximately 600000 were issued to women. Post-distribution services for identity cards, including renewal, issuance of duplicates, as well as correction of age and name were also provided to approximately 100000 individuals.
According to the officials, over the past year, in an effort to enhance citizen access to government services, five new Asan Khedmat centers were established in the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Helmand, and Nangarhar. The authority implemented and utilized 42 construction projects with a total value of 37 million Afghanis across the provinces of Kabul, Helmand, Kunduz, Parwan, Nuristan, Daikundi, Faryab, Farah, Khost, and several other provinces.
Based on the information, In the year 1446 Hijri, the authority recruited 1451 individuals as new employees through open competition and organized capacity-building training programs for 515 staff members. Additionally, as part of maintaining administrative order and discipline, a total of 141 cases were reviewed, resulting in the dismissal of 27 individuals, issuance of warnings to 128, recommendations for 158, and the reassignment or demotion of 19 others.
This year’s key priorities include distributing 3.2 million electronic identification cards, scanning 5 million individual forms, expanding Asan Khedmat service centers, conducting specialized surveys, drafting a new statistics law, and initiating preliminary measures for the national census.
