MoTCA: Extensive Efforts Have Been Made to Advance Infrastructure and Attract Investment

Today, on 26 July 2025, officials from the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA), during a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), presented the MoTCA’s annual achievements and performances as part of IEA’s entity to report the annual achievements.
During the press conference, the officials of the MoTCA stated that extensive efforts have been undertaken to enhance infrastructures and attract investments. They added that over the past year, out of 55 planned projects, 34 reached their final implementation stages, providing job opportunities both directly and indirectly to nearly 4000 individuals.
According to them, to support the expansion of air and ground transportation networks, around 23000 jeribs of land have been allocated for the construction of standard terminals and other necessary infrastructure. Additionally, efforts to expand transportation projects are progressing through public and private partnerships. Investment has been secured for the implementation of 20 projects, and some contracts have already been signed.
According to the information, to improve urban transportation and establish new terminals and stations, land has been allocated in 21 different locations across Kabul city.
The officials further mentioned that throughout the past year, more than 20 training programs were conducted within the country, and 200 employees from the Ministry were sent to countries such as China, the UAE, India, and others to participate in educational and professional development initiatives.
Based on the provided information, among the other achievements of the Ministry are facilitating the transport of 30000 pilgrims for the Hajj ritual, coordinating over 14000 domestic and international flights, upgrading sections of the airports in Kabul, Kandahar, Herat and Balkh, and graduating of 80 individuals from the specialized institute of the Ministry and their employment in various fields.
Additionally, MoUs have been signed with Russia, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in the field of transportation cooperation. Over the past year, 216 freight and 162 passenger transport companies were officially registered with the Ministry, and the process of monitoring service quality has been ongoing consistently.
According to the information, in the previous year, nearly 540000 returnees have been relocated to their designated areas, and their repatriation process remains ongoing.
In the conclusion, the officials of the MoTCA underscored that expanding Kabul Airport’s terminal, implementing construction projects, enhancing and standardizing key areas of air and ground transportation, and promoting the use of official transport vehicles are considered top priorities for this year.
