Afghanistan and Turkmenistan Sign Three MoUs in the Railway Sector

The Ministry of Public Works has announced the signing of three Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Turkmenistan to enhance collaboration in the railway sector.
These agreements were formalized during an official visit by a technical delegation from the Ministry of Public Works to Turkmenistan, led by Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, Deputy Minister for Railways.
According to the ministry’s official statement, both parties have agreed to expand the Herat–Torghundi railway station, with an estimated budget of $7 million. Additionally, the remaining 10 kilometers of the Aqina–Andkhoy railway will be completed. Furthermore, both sides have reached a consensus on conducting a survey and designing the 55-kilometer Andkhoy–Sheberghan railway project.
The Ministry of Public Works has affirmed that the contracts for these three projects will be finalized in the near future, after which the implementation phase will commence. #
