2025-02-22

Under the chairmanship of Mulla Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved contracts for 17 development projects totaling approximately three billion Afghanis, while also amending the terms of nine additional projects.

In its regular session held at Marble Palace, the commission reviewed 32 projects as per the agenda. Following a comprehensive evaluation, contracts for 17 projects received approval, while nine projects underwent modifications. Meanwhile, two projects were rejected due to procurement-related challenges, with instructions issued to the relevant authorities to reinitiate the tendering process in strict compliance with procurement regulations.

Furthermore, committees have been assigned to assess the pricing structures of four project contracts. These committees will conduct negotiations with the awarded contractors and submit their final reports to the commission’s leadership for further consideration.

The approved and revised projects include: Construction of the Arghandi Transport Terminal in Kabul province, development of a truck parking facility in Guzara district, Herat province, rehabilitation of the Aqina-Andkhoy and Torghundi railway networks, expansion of fiber optic infrastructure in Kandahar, Helmand, and Farah provinces, reconstruction of key urban roads in Kabul city, and completion of various electricity infrastructure projects across multiple provinces

These initiatives, fully funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the country’s infrastructure, strengthening economic growth, and facilitating sustainable development. #
