Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan: From Balanced Development and Social Order to Active Diplomacy

A Week in Review:

Recently, a series of initiatives and actions undertaken by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have become clearly evident across the domains of diplomacy, infrastructure development, agriculture, public services, and social order. These efforts not only reflect a commitment to strengthening both domestic and international relations but also highlight the government’s dedication to ensuring security and improving the living standards of its citizens.

In the realm of diplomacy, the meeting between Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs with the Ambassador of Turkey, exemplifies the continuation of historical ties and longstanding relations between Afghanistan and Turkey. The discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation, facilitating the transfer of goods, and strengthening trade relations, demonstrating the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to establishing stability and creating opportunities for both foreign and domestic investment.

Domestically, significant emphasis has been placed on infrastructure projects. Notable initiatives include the commencement of nearly 10 kilometers of road construction in Baraki Barak District, Logar, the first phase of a 30-kilometer road connecting Sar-e-Pul to Faryab, and the completion of 220 development projects in Paktia and Samangan provinces. These projects underscore the government’s commitment to balanced provincial development, employment generation, and the enhancement of access and trade facilitation, while also improving the quality of life in remote regions.

In the agricultural sector, projects such as increased orange production in Nangarhar and the establishment of cherry orchards in Badakhshan serve as important examples of efforts to strengthen the livelihoods of farming households and provide legal alternatives to illicit crop cultivation. These measures not only enhance domestic production but also reduce dependence on imports and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

In the areas of public health and social welfare, the completion of safe drinking water projects in Panjshir, support for the production and distribution of domestic medicines, integration of environmental considerations into governmental plans and policies, initiation of residential aid for returnees in Laghman, and the distribution of assistance packages to low-income families in Ghor all illustrate the government’s commitment to addressing citizens’ basic needs, improving public health, and enhancing social welfare.

Security, as a prerequisite for development, has been emphasized by the Deputy PM for Administrative Affairs. His meetings with local elders and officials in Faryab demonstrate the Islamic Emirate’s ongoing efforts to create a safe environment for daily life and economic activity.

Furthermore, over the past four years, approximately 170 longstanding and deadly disputes in Khost have been successfully resolved, overcoming significant obstacles to community security and stability. This highlights the Emirate’s proactive measures, in coordination with tribal elders, to promote social order, resolve conflicts, and foster a culture of fraternity and cohesion.

In short, the recent activities of the Islamic Emirate illustrate a governance framework centered on three primary pillars: Strengthening diplomacy and international relations to promote trade and economic cooperation; Advancing infrastructure and rural development projects to improve living standards and create employment opportunities; and Ensuring security, public order, and service provision to establish a sustainable environment conducive to economic and social growth.
